In Turkey’s southwest province of Denizli, white pools cover the landscape around a tiny cliffside village called Pamukkale, meaning “Cotton Palace” in Turkish. As calcium carbonate deposits flow down from hot springs above, the sediment collects in the lower limestone pools and shapes their snowy appearance. People have bathed in the Hierapolis-Pamukkale pools since 200 BCE when the ancient city of Hierapolis was erected near the top of the terrace to provide proximity to the spring and its restorative benefits. Today, local and visiting Instagrammers alike make the trek to partake in the ancient traditions and share the view of the valley below.

Just 3-4 years ago I wouldn’t even notice a scene like this. I wouldn’t probably even be at a location where I could see it. But then the realization of life’s fragility hit me and put everything I had ever known and taken for granted into perspective. And I changed. Started to see the details around me. People, light, colors in the sky, human strength and human weaknesses. My own strengths and weaknesses. Over the years since I’ve been constantly trying to become a man I can be proud of. That my friends and family can be proud of. Speak well of.
I’m still aiming towards that place. I still have a long way to go, but to have a camera in my hands really helps to keep me focused on that very thing.
A photograph doesn’t just tell stories about a particular place, they also tell you something about the photographer.
The more I think of it, the more I’ve started to realize that photography is becoming my way of sharing my journey within as much as my physical ones.
Like I said. It’s a long journey ahead, but I’m happy and grateful to be able to share it with all of you. — by wisslaren > http://j.mp/1yYyG9l
